A Canadian company, Zaio,(no relation to Zorro) is currently photographing every single house in Tucson. All 300,000 of them. This info comes via The Jaywalk Blog
The images will go into a database the company hopes to sell to banks, insurance companies and real estate agents.
Where’s the value to the consumer? And what about privacy rights?
I don’t know about you but it’s kind of discomforting to me. After all, we’ve already got grocery stores spying on our eating habits and allegedly selling that info to the interested. And make no mistake about it there are a lot of people who want to know exactly how many Cheetos you consume. Or what your cat eats.
Anyway, keep on the lookout because Zaio is planning to start photographing 170 more cities soon.
