The Tennessee Pot Cave, featured as one of our properties of the week, has been sold.
A Wisconsin cheese firm, Roth Kase USA Ltd., bought the seven acres plus pot cave underneath, in Hartsville, Tennessee with the winning bid of $285,000.
It had to have been one of the most unusual auctions because the actual bidding was held in one of the underground marijuana growing rooms where former owner Fred Strunk had masterminded a multi-million dollar operation.
In all about 170 people attended and watched the auction which was mainly between two bidders, 90 feet below the surface of the quiet Tennessee countryside.
As with every auction, there has to be a little hype, I reckon.
“They say he spent $750,000,” the auctioneer said of Strunk, who now resides in jail.
“Look at the craftsmanship.”
Okay…
The money raised will go to the 15th Judicial District Drug Task Force, which was responsible for closing Stunk’s illegal operations.
